The hot working quality of the gantry punch has a great influence on the function and service life of the die. From the analysis and statistics of the failure reasons of the die, it can be seen that the "accident" of the die failure caused by improper heat treatment accounts for more than 40%. The quenching deformation and cracking of working parts of punch die and early fracture in the process of use are related to the hot working process of the touch tool.

1、 Quenching and tempering of press. This is the key link in the heat treatment of die. If the quenching and heating causes overheating, not only will make the workpiece brittle, but also easily cause deformation and cracking when cooling, which seriously affects the die life. During quenching and heating of die, special attention should be paid to prevent oxidation and decarburization. The heat treatment process specification should be strictly controlled. If the premise is agreed, vacuum heat treatment can be adopted. After quenching, tempering should be carried out in time and different punching process should be adopted according to technical requirements.

2、 Stress relieving annealing. The die working parts of press should be annealed after rough machining, with the aim of removing the internal stress caused by rough machining, so as to avoid excessive deformation and crack caused by quenching. For the mould with high precision, it is necessary to pass stress relieving tempering after grinding or electrical processing, which is conducive to the accuracy of the die and improve the service life.

3、 The die casting technology is an important part in the manufacturing process of the die working parts. For the mould of high alloy tool steel, the technical requirements for the metallographic structure such as carbide distribution of materials are usually put forward. In addition, the casting temperature range should be strictly controlled, the accurate heating specifications should be formulated, the accurate casting force method should be adopted, and the annealing should be delayed or annealed after forging.

4、 Prepare for heat treatment. According to the different materials and requirements of working parts of the mold, annealing, normalizing or tempering preparation heat treatment process shall be adopted respectively to improve the structure, remove the defects of the casting blank and improve the processing technology. The secondary cementite or chain carbide can be removed by proper preparation heat treatment of high carbon alloy die steel, which can spheroidize and refine the carbide, and promote the average distribution of carbide. This is conducive to the determination of quenching and tempering quality, and improve the die life.
