The hot working quality of the gantry punch die has a great influence on the function and service life of the die. According to the analysis and statistics of the cause of mold failure, the "accident" of mold failure caused by improper heat treatment accounts for more than 40%. The quenching deformation and cracking of the working parts of the punching die and the early fracture of the use process are related to the hot working technology of the touch tool.


First, the quenching and tempering of the press. This is the key link in the mold heat treatment. If overheating occurs during quenching heating, it will not only cause large brittleness of the workpiece, but also easily cause deformation and cracking during cooling, severely affecting the life of the mold. Die quenching heating should pay special attention to prevent oxidation and decarbonization, should strictly control the heat treatment process specifications, in the case of the premise, can use vacuum heat treatment. After quenching should be tempered in time, and according to the technical requirements of different press tempering process.


Two, stress relief annealing. The working parts of the punching press die should be stress-relieved annealing treatment after roughing, with the purpose of removing the internal stress caused by roughing, so as to avoid excessive deformation and cracks caused by quenching. For molds with high precision requirements, stress relief tempering treatment is also required after grinding or electric machining, which is conducive to the accuracy of the mold and the improvement of service life.


Third, punching casting process, which is an important link in the manufacturing process of mold work parts. For the die of high alloy tool steel, the technical requirements for metallographic structure such as material carbide distribution are usually put forward. In addition, the casting temperature range should be strictly controlled, accurate heating specifications should be formulated, accurate casting force method should be used, and slow cooling or timely annealing after forging.


4. Prepare for heat treatment. According to the different materials and requirements of the working parts of the mold, annealing, normalizing or tempering should be used to prepare the heat treatment process to improve the organization, remove the organization defects of the casting blank, and improve the processing technology. After proper preparation and heat treatment, the network of secondary cementites or chain carbides can be removed, so that the carbides are spheroidized and refined, and the distribution of carbides is promoted. This is conducive to determine the quenching, tempering quality, improve the life of the mold.
